Irwin Industries: Are You Carpentering? Join Irwin!
Irwin Industries is one of the biggest leading companies of construction and maintenance of the US. It was founded in 1922 in Long Beach, California during the Signal Hill oil boom. Irwin provides services to many industries: the refining, products distribution, pharmaceutical, food processing and distribution, and others but, since 1996 is specialized in the construction and maintenance of petrochemical manufacturers and other heavy industries in the western region of the country.
In April 2001, this company acquired Unit Construction and Hobbs Bannerman Engineering and formed an organization that is committed to create projects for the industrial community. Due to this, Irwin is currently looking for a carpenter who will be responsible of several tasks.
Some of those tasks are: prepare layouts using a ruler, framing open area and calipers, make use of different kinds of tools (hand tools and power tools), clean the tools, materials, equipment and the work areas, shape materials to arranged measures utilizing saws, planes and chisels, assemble material by fastening them as one with nails, pins or glue and dowel, verify the stability of the structure utilizing carpenter’s level and plum bob, build chutes and forms for pouring concrete among many others.
The requirements that you must have to apply for this job are 3 years of experience (minimum) as a carpenter, must read and write in English, work shifts of 16 hours each, availability to work evenings, nights and weekends, work in little areas with artificial light and limited access, among others.
