Ohio Edison is an operating company of FirstEnergy Corp. and is headquartered in Akron, Ohio. FirstEnergy was formed in 1997 through the merger of Ohio Edison Company and its subsidiary, Pennsylvania Power, with Centerior Energy Corp. Ohio Edison is actually the consolidation of some 200 smaller electric companies that began operations. They provide electric service to one million customers within 7,000 square miles of central and northeastern Ohio.
They have owned electric system, based on 4.5 million customers served within a 36,100 square mile area of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
