During its inception it was known as Albuquerque Gas and Electric Company but eventually it experienced various transformations, including the change of name. Public Service Company of New Mexico Resources Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation and has gained recognition to generously contribute many other non-profit organizations and educationalists in New Mexico.
The company has its main focus on reducing water use at power plants, development of an environmental sustainability policy, operating all electricity and gas delivery services under an EMS, the Environmental Management Systems, that is consistent with the ISO 14001 standard, reducing air emissions at power plants, wildlife protection and managing all gas- and coal-fired power plants under ISO 14001 certified EMS.
